On November 28th 1979 Naenae Old Boys’ and Taita Rugby Football Club amalgamated to establish the new Avalon RFC. Calling Fraser Park home, they have developed a proud history and created a number of unforgettable memories.

Amongst their proud history, the club has seen a number of players compete at a representative level for teams such as the All Blacks, Maori All Blacks, Samoa, Niuean 15’s and 7’s.

In 2014 under Scott Waldrom’s leadership, the club adopted the Wolf as its emblem and soon after was known as Avalon Wolves RFC. The wolf symbol encompasses the clubs core values including loyalty, leadership, strength, family and the power of teamwork.

As well as the club’s values, there are a number of goals the club continuously work towards such as;

  • Creating an environment that is winning/supportive so that players and their family and friends are proud of and want to be a part of.

  • Provide development opportunities for players, coaches and administrators so they can reach their true potential.

  • Retain the talent amongst the Avalon area at Avalon

  • To ensure that the local community knows that Avalon is a club that has a place for everyone.
