Naenae Hockey Club are a founding member of Fraser Park Sportsville. Founded in 1959 Naenae Hockey Club started with only 10 full time players, so recruited some fill ins from a number of the Naenae College teams. In 1960 a game between Naenae and Petone was the first to be aired on TV in the Wellington region. It was a brief sporting item on the local news.

The first coach Jim Mason, became the first life member. The club grew in strength over the next few years, resulting in the club having 4 men's and 2 boys' teams.
