HUTT VALLEY DODGERS

Dodgers Softball Club, originally known as the Moera Colts, was formed by Dick Austin and Jock Wilson, with the help of Jim Vogel in 1945. Jim Vogel was the Commissioner for the NZ Boy Scouts and paid for the club’s equipment which included gloves, bats and balls for all the players.

The club was renamed Moera Dodgers in the 1950’s and a few years later Moera was removed from the name forming the Dodgers.  Having gotten permission from the LA Dodgers, the club copied their uniform and it has been the same ever since. In 1995 the club celebrated their 50th anniversary.

Hutt Valley Dodgers have seen a number of club members represent New Zealand and have a large number of club teams. For more information about the club click here.
